Brantley Gilbert announces May ‘Blackout Tour’

Brantley Gilbert Brings International Blackout Tour In May with support from Broken Witt Rebels Latest single ‘Stone Cold Sober’ out now Watch the video here Having rocked last year’s C2C Festival at The O2 in London last year, hard-hitting country outlier BRANTLEY GILBERT will return to the UK this May as part of his international Blackout tour. Among the concerts is a date at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. UK DATES Thu 05 May 2016 – Glasgow Oran Mor SOLD-OUT Fri 06 May 2016 – Manchester Academy 2 Sat 07 May 2016 – Birmingham O2 Institute 2 Sun 08 May 2016 – London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire Gilbert is a force to be reckoned with. He’s notched six number one singles, including Jason Aldean’s ‘My Kind of Party’ and the CMA Song of the Year nominee ‘Dirt Road Anthem’, and earned back-to-back platinum albums with Halfway To Heaven and Just As I Am, the latter being the 2014 American Music Awards Favourite Country Album. With a storied stage show, one that is high velocity as it is long on songs drawn from the rough hewn artist’s own life, the Jefferson, Georgia-born and –raised songwriter believes in cutting deep veins of truth into his music. “People everywhere like to raise hell and have a good time,” says Gilbert. “It’s one of the things, no matter where I go, people seem to agree on. But they also want their music to dig a little deeper – and maybe show a little bit more of how life really is. I may write drinking songs and fighting songs, but I also write songs about faith, about hitting your knees and being lost and trying to be the best man I can be. I think the most hardcore rowdy people, when you look inside, need that just as much. I know I do… These songs are all about making my way through world, so they’ve been road-tested.” Just As I Am topped Billboard and iTunes’ Country Albums chart upon release, ultimately becoming the third-highest Country seller of 2014 Featuring the Multi-Platinum number one ‘Bottoms Up,’ the nearly-double platinum number one ‘One Hell Of An Amen’ and Gold-certified ‘Small Town Throwdown,’ Just As I Am remained in the Top 5 best-selling Country Albums of 2015 as well. Given the demand for his music – and wanting to deepen the story, Brantley released Just As I Am – Platinum Edition on May 19, one year after the original album’s release. Having written each of the 19 tracks on the expanded version, The Platinum Edition shared a more intimate glimpse into this chapter of his life with songs like the title track ‘Just As I Am,’ as well as his current single ‘Stone Cold Sober’. WATCH THE VIDEO FOR ‘STONE COLD SOBER’ Given his loyal fanbase and ever-expanding BG Nation, last year Gilbert took home the first ever fan-voted Renegade Award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. The song, written by Melissa Peirce, Jonathan Singleton, and Brad Tursi, hit a chord with the Missouri-born singer, who loved the use of a simple act – walking into a bar – to highlight everything from a relationship’s first exciting meeting to heartbreak. Hailed as a breakout new country male vocalist, Columbia Nashville’s broke through the country and all genre charts last year with debut album, “Redneck Crazy”, which landed at No. 2 on the Country Albums chart and No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart and marking the year’s highest entry by a debut male country artist on the all-genre Billboard 200 album sales chart at its debut. Colt Ford is just an unassuming good old country boy from Georgia, a one-time pro golfer turned songwriter and musician who has struck a chord with his growing fan base. On “Thanks for Listening”,his fifth album on his own perfectly named Average Joes Entertainment label, he returns the favor, offering his audience a humble token of his appreciation. With his groundbreaking blend of country music and hip hop rhythms, Ford is a cultural force who is ready to go from cult status to a household name, from the mud trucker events where he started to arena stages, where he’ll next be seen sharing the bill with Toby Keith. Parmalee’s country rock sound has its roots in the bluegrass, traditional country, southern rock and blues covers the guys grew up hearing their families play. Brantley Gilbert More Than Miles Video: Review

Brantley Gilbert’s More Than Miles Is A Story Worth Investing In – Video Review. Brantley Gilbert may be a tough country rock star, but he’s certainly good at love songs. Take “My Kind Of Crazy” for example, from 2010. It’s songs like that that really capture the essence of people’s emotions. Also, “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do“, from 2011, was another one that really hit the ball out of the park. Now, with “More Than Miles“, his latest release, Brantley sings of the agony of leaving the one he loves to go follow his dream, before realizing that he’s made the wrong decision. I read somewhere that this song was about his ex-girlfriend (fun fact: she was featured in the video for “My Kind Of Crazy“). Either way, for such an emotionally-charged song as this, it would have to have a good video, and I’m pleased with the results. The Video: Step by Step. For once I can actually say a country music video just follows the story of the song (simplicity is underrated these days), and depicts Brantley parking his truck in the drive of a motel, just outside Nashville’s city limits, almost like he can’t bear to go beyond. Though I think the sign for Nashville being right by a motel is a little unrealistic, but hey, we’ll go with it, it’s a music video! The story continues as Brantley stares at the photo on the dashboard of a girl, as shown in the lyrics, and he goes to get a room (in true slow motion dramatic style, of course). Again and again during the video it cuts back to a close-up of Brantley playing guitar and singing the song in the motel room, and we really get a little suspense of disbelief that he’s written the song in a motel room just like that. Because the video follows the song so well, it makes us believe the lyrics were written in truth (particularly given the ex-girlfriend theory mentioned above), and this is really the fundamentals of a country music video. We get shots of Brantley attempting to write songs, but screwing up the pieces of paper because he supposedly can’t write without the inspiration of his girl, he can’t focus because of the break-up. The filter on the camera is a grayish blue, and this symbolically sets the deepening mood as Brantley stares into the mirror in his room, and paces around leaning into walls and staring into space. When actually called out like that it seems a little false, but it works within the context of the video. Later, we get Brantley walking to a bar, where a band are playing, but he’s distracted by the lovers kissing and becomes contemplative. He even rejects the advances of a very attractive woman , who then seems to be approached by another guy ‘wanting a go’ as it were, and Brantley gives him the pass to go ahead. I was a little confused by this part Continue reading Brantley Gilbert More Than Miles Video: Review

Eric Church Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour

In Case Anyone Wanted To Know How The VERY FIRST Show Of The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour Went… I was very fortunate to attend the first show of Eric Church’s Blood, Sweat and Beers Tour. It took place in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the Fort Smith Convention Center. I (again so very grateful) had VIP tickets which included lots of goodies! There was a dinner before (with great food), a bag full of merchandise (including a very classy set of shot glasses), an acoustic set and great seats! The acoustic set consisted of two songs between dinner and the actual show. He sang “Like Jesus Does,” a track from Chief and “Before She Does,” a track from his first album Sinners Like Me. After those there was time for some questions from the fans. I managed to get some talk time, where I first told him it was my birthday and then asked where he got the idea to write “Lightning.” He replied with a VERY “Happy Birthday” and said it came to him one day after watching the Green Mile. For those of you who haven’t heard it, go listen now! It will definitely tug at your heartstrings! After questions (and one more drink) me and my friends headed to the main building! Brantley Gilbert was the opening act, but I only caught the first and last songs of his set…that’s because I was waiting in line for a cold beverage for, no joke, at least 30 minutes. This was one thing, that I feel, wasn’t thought out very carefully. Once Church hit the stage all complaints or worries were out the door!!!! He ROCKED that stage, and when I say this I mean it 100 percent! I have seen him perform on several occasions (over 10) and I’m never disappointed, but last Thursday I was attacked with the amount of energy coming off of the stage and exuding in the audience. He packed the place, it was mentioned several times that this was a record breaking amount of people in the building! That’s with it being a Thursday night and previous artists such as Willie Nelson and Miranda Lambert playing the venue! He played his classics “Two Pink Lines,” “Sinners Like Me,” “Guys Like Me,” “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag,” “Smoke A Little Smoke,” “Carolina,” “Hell On the Heart” and many others. Like clock-work, as soon as he started to sing “These Boots,” the majority of the crowd shucked their kickers and raised them high in the air! Church also played songs from his most recent album, Chief! Of course he sang “Drink In My Hand,” but what has become one of my all-time favorite songs, “Springsteen,” stole the show! He played the piano during the memory-lane, reminiscing tune, this is after learning the 88 keyed instrument days prior! Basically it was one of the best shows I have seen in a LONG time! Most definitely the best show I’ve seen in 2012! 😉 I strongly encourage Continue reading Eric Church Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour

Brantley Gilbert You Don’t Know Her Like I Do Video

Brantley Gilbert Releases Video for You Don’t Know Her Like I Do. Brantley Gilbert has released a video for “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do“. This particular track comes off of the deluxe edition of Gilbert’s September release, Halfway to Heaven. It is one of three additional tracks you won’t find on the original version of the album. The video for the track seems to actually use a lot of the same footage you see in the live version of his “Country Must Be Country Wide” video. Most likely, they just pulled footage from the same concert. Regardless, Gilbert’s fans are some of the most loyal around, and they will probably not care about a little repeat footage. It’s a quality song, and worth taking a look at, even if you haven’t jump on Brantley train yet! You can watch it below. Check out the video for “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do” Now!
