Today, October 28, is the legendary Charlie Daniels’ 75th Birthday! He has had a very successful and long career and we are proud to say he’s still got it!

Here is a special video of Daniels performing his iconic song, “The Devil Went Down To Georgia“, on the Grand Ole Opry stage! This was the night he was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by Marty Stuart.

Travis Tritt and the Charlie Daniels Band will be on the Deadwood Mountain Grand stage August 3, 2011. The Deadwood Mountain Grand is aspiring to be the premier year-round entertainment place in the Black Hills of South Dakota. It’s been awhile since we have heard anything from Tritt, but in this case better late than never!

Tickets for Travis Tritt/Charlie Daniels Band go on sale Saturday, June 25th. Other acts playing this venue are Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Diamond Rio, Stone Temple Pilots, and Oak Ridge Boys.

The two tracks are featured on The Charlie Daniels Band’s upcoming August 10th release, a patriotic compilation titled Land That I Love. Both songs, Iraq Blues and (What This World Needs Is) A Few More Rednecks 2010 are newly recorded studio versions, and the 2010 update of (What This World Needs Is) A Few More Rednecks 2010 also includes a brand new verse. The singles will be available at all major online retailers.
Daniels had this to say about the new upcoming release,”I wrote Iraq Blues on three separate trips to entertain the troops over there in Iraq. It’s about the troops and for the troops. (What This World Needs Is) A Few More Rednecks 2010 is an updated version of a song I recorded several years ago. The new lyrics reflect life in America in the 21st century.”

The legendary, Grammy-award winning Charlie Daniels Band headlined the second concert in NSAI’s “IT ALL BEGINS WITH A SONG” Performance Series at the Wildhorse Saloon on Thursday night (8/27). The packed house was treated to a few tunes by Old Union prior to an energetic performance by the CDB, which included hits from “Long Haired Country Boy” and “The South’s Gonna Do It Again” to a powerful version of “How Great Thou Art.” As the night concluded, Charlie was presented with BMI MillionAir Awards for one million performances of “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “Drinking My Baby Goodbye,” and four million performances of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” He also received specially autographed lyrics of the “Tennessee Waltz” from NSAI for his contributions to the music industry. During their final song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” the CDB was accompanied by Pro Golfer John Daly. Sharing classic favorites such as “Dixie On My Mind”, “Simple Man”, and “In America”, Charlie shows his support for the troops in a special performance at Sustainer Theater April 17th. The band also payed tribute to Johnny Cash, performing “Folsom Prison Blues” and handed out over 1,000 hand-autographed photos to the troops.

“We are here to perform for Balad because we want to; we care about what you all are doing over here,” Daniels said prior to the show. “I just want to do my part, because I can’t carry a gun, I can’t go and fight – I’m too old. But I can come and perform for you all and, if it helps you all do what you do, then I’m happy.

“This is a special audience [of military members]; they can’t go out and get concert tickets and see a concert anytime they want to,” the legendary musician continued. “There are a lot of things they can’t do. You can’t go off base; you can’t take a plane, or drive down to Florida for the weekend, or go fishing. You’re stuck here inside the wire. That’s a big commitment you guys volunteer to make. You come here because you want to be here. I’m here to support you and tell you all, ‘you’re doing a great job.’”

“Charlie Daniels is a true patriot,” added the Tucson, Ariz., native deployed here from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz. “Everything they do, they express America, patriotism, and pride in what we do here.”
