Florida Georgia Line Makes Billboard History (Again)

Florida Georgia Line News

Global entertainers FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE have achieved another unprecedented career milestone, ruling the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for the most weeks – 90 cumulative – since it originated in 1958 as an all-encompassing genre songs survey. Country icon George Strait previously held the title at 84 weeks. “We are absolutely blown away and extremely humbled to even be on the same chart as George Strait and some of our other heroes and country legends, so it’s wild to see our songs total 90 weeks at No. 1,” FGL’s Brian Kelley shared with Billboard. “It’s really hard to wrap our brains around that, but it’s also super-inspiring to get back in the studio and create more music for our fans.” Adding to their history-making legacy, FGL and BEBE REXHA are now tied at #1 for 34 consecutive weeks with Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road.” The collaboration first topped the chart on December 16, 2017, and is anticipated to surpass the longest-running song record next week. FGL has had six pinnacle moments at #1 on the chart in total – “Cruise”; “Stay”; “This Is How We Roll”; “Dirt”; “H.O.L.Y.”; “Meant to Be” (Bebe Rexha & FGL). The latest run exceeds FGL’s own former topper “Cruise” riding 24 weeks straight. “It’s safe to say that we all felt like we had something special when we left the studio that night,” FGL’s Tyler Hubbard explains of the fated tune he penned alongside Rexha, Josh Miller, and David Garcia. “But it was more than just special. There’s no doubt that this song is anointed by the best writer there is, the Lord. With every unexpected surprise in the story of ‘Meant to Be,’ God was showing himself to be stronger than any tradition or genre. I’m so thankful to be a part of this song and humbled more with each week that it remains at the top of the Billboard chart.” For a 30th week, “Meant to Be” leads Country Streaming Songs (with 15.2 million U.S. streams) and is currently #6 on Country Digital Song Sales (12,000 sold), after leading the chart for 22 weeks. Spinning at both Country and Pop radio, it led the Country Airplay chart (4/28) plus Adult Pop Songs (two weeks) and all-genre Radio Songs (five weeks). Several major appearances are on tap as FGL and Rexha join Billboard’s West Coast Editor Melinda Newman for a special conversation and performance on August 13 at the Clive Davis Theater inside the Grammy Museum LA in Los Angeles, CA. The following day (8/14), FGL will return to CBS’ The Late Late Show with James Corden to perform their latest offering of “Simple.” Leading with their roots-infused Top 15-and-cimbing single, FGL has released two additional tracks – “Colorado” and “Talk You Out of It” – off their awaited fourth studio album on BMLG Records. FGL will take these fresh new tunes and fan-favorite hits to the inaugural FGL Fest on September 8 during the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s 25th annual NASCAR weekend. Florida Georgia Line Official Video for “Smooth”

Florida Georgia Line on Country Music News Blog

Florida Georgia Line cruised into Las Vegas styling in a Caddy for their new “Smooth” music video, which premiered exclusively on ETonline.com today (7/31) and across Entertainment Tonight this week. Penned by Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley, Nicolle Galyon and Jordan Schmidt, “Smooth” is the fourth buzzworthy release from FGL’s chart-topping DIG YOUR ROOTS album (BMLG Records) and is now spinning on Country radio. The Superstar pair have been on a career hot-streak since their history-making “Cruise” introduced them to a global following. The lively “Smooth” video pays homage to those days and showcases Kelley’s directorial debut, alongside co-director TK McKamy. Following today’s launch, the cinematic excitement will be available across multiple media platforms. “I’m really excited about this ‘Smooth’ video; it’s my first time co-directing,” shared Kelley on set. “It’s been really cool to write the treatment and see this thing slowly come to life.” Acting the part of two stranded Old Camp Whiskey workers looking for a good time, Kelley and Hubbard quickly become a part of the ultimate “Sin City” bachelor party after “Elvis” and “Cat Daddy” (award-winning songwriter Craig Wiseman) offer them a ride-of-a-lifetime in a bubblegum pink Cadillac en route to the iconic A Little White Wedding Chapel. As the newly-tricked out Kelley and Hubbard prepare to be Cat Daddy’s “witnesses of love,” uncanny lookalikes of the superstar duo (“circa 2012,” according to Kelley) make sure the rambunctious crew are on time to the world-famous “Tunnel of Love” drive-thru. Little do the guys know, Cat Daddy’s future wife – Wiseman’s real-life wife, KK – is orchestrating their arrival from behind the scenes. “KK and Craig actually just renewed their vows,” Hubbard shared post-shoot. “Cat Daddy surprised her with an awesome custom-made diamond ring. It’s a really special moment here on set, so it was really cool to experience that.” From rolling down the glitzy Vegas strip and taking over a penthouse, to late-night grooving under fireworks in the electric “Neon Boneyard,” ETonline.com offers never-before-seen footage. Watch here. Hubbard added, “We’ve learned a lot of dance moves, had a great time – TK and BK, they crushed it. It’s been an amazing experience here in Vegas. It’s been a party.” FGL will keep the party going as they’re next slated to appear on ABC’s CMA Fest: The Music Event of Summer, airing August 16 at 8 p.m. ET. They’ll also be welcoming THE SMOOTH TOUR 2017 special guests, Pop idols Backstreet Boys, to Nashville for CMT Crossroads. Hot on the heels of hitting #1 with PLATINUM-certified “God, Your Mama, And Me,” they will trade-off on each other’s smash-hit songs for the must-see genre-jumping episode airing August 30 at 10 p.m. ET. FGL and Backstreet Boys, alongside Hip-Hop icon Nelly and breakout Country star Chris Lane, have one more SOLD-OUT stadium concert set for Chicago’s Wrigley Field on August 12 for a trifecta of capacity dates. Florida Georgia Line — We Love Cops, But We Have Our Own Security – TMZ Update

Florida Georgia Line responds to anti-police rumors previously published by TMZ and other sites. Florida Georgia Line — We Love Cops, But We Have Our Own Security The guys from Florida Georgia Line want to make it clear they have total respect for men and women in blue — but, respectfully, there’s a good reason they didn’t need their help backstage. Sources close to FGL’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard tell us security for all their concerts is handled through promoters at the venues. It’s just part of their contracts for each gig. We’re told local cops regularly ask if they can help out backstage, and are usually told it’s not necessary. FGL’s team believes this frees up law enforcement for other security needs around the venue. TMZ broke the story … an Iowa sheriff was fuming after getting turned away backstage. Our FGL sources said that incident and one in Wisconsin are rarities, because most law enforcement welcome the fact the band is self-sufficient. Bottom line, according to our sources — Florida Georgia Line is extremely “pro-police.” This all stems from a previous TMZ report that cited FGL turned away uniformed officers at the venue, only to have their management scramble to bring them back after the show to provide a protected escort out. “Florida Georgia Line dissed law enforcement working security at their concert … according to an Iowa Sheriff who says the band banned officers, and then came crawling back for protection. Jones County Sheriff Greg Graver tells TMZ he was headed backstage Saturday night at the Great Jones County Fair to discuss security protocol with the band when he was stopped by a crew member and told no uniformed officers were allowed backstage, per the band. Sheriff Graver says he was told the country duo even threatened to pull the plug on the concert if they saw any cops. Graver says midway through the performance, he was told the band wanted a police escort out of town after the show — but he told them he wouldn’t spend “one tax dollar assisting them” … after being disrespected. He says the band’s management scrambled for other law enforcement agencies to provide the escort … but they also told FGL to kick rocks. They ended up leaving on their own. A similar incident went down with Wisconsin cops last week. We’ve reached out to the band … no word back. They did tweet, saying they have “nothing but love and respect for the police.“”
