In 2005, Louisiana-born and North Carolina-raised vocalist Kellie Pickler acquired a spot in the fifth season of American Idol. Though she finished sixth, the former waitress and Miss North Carolina contestant charmed American audiences with her Southern twang and blonde ambition, resulting in a contract with BNA Records that yielded her debut album, Small Town Girl, in the fall of 2006 and an eponymous follow-up release in 2008.

Kellie Picker rose to fame after her appearance in the fifth season of the television series American Idol. To date she has released one album, Small Town Girl (2006), following her appearance on the tv show. It reached No.9 in the Billboard charts with the track “Red High Heels” making a showing in the singles chart.

Kellie Pickler Flips On The Pink Lights At The Opry. The Grand Ole Opry joined Women Rock For The Cure in the fight against breast cancer tonight with the Opry’s fourth annual “Opry Goes Pink” show. Kellie Pickler, who recently shaved her own head in support of her childhood friend battling cancer, flipped the switch on the Opry’s barn backdrop, turning it pink for the night. Tonight’s show also included performances by Sarah Darling, Jimmy Dickens, Kristen Kelly, The Farm, Mindy Smith and others as well as activities recognizing breast cancer survivors and the continuing fight against the disease.

Kellie Pickler has stood beside her best friend—a childhood friend who Pickler refers to as her “sister”—Summer Holt Miller throughout her breast cancer prognosis and subsequent treatment since receiving word of the diagnosis in June of this year, but yesterday in Nashville, Tenn., the inseparable duo took their stance against cancer one step further when they both buzzed their hair to bring awareness to the importance of early detection. Kellie Pickler Shows Support While Volunteering At Second Harvest Food Bank. Kellie Pickler is currently the national spokesperson for the Con Agra Foods Foundation Hunger-Free Summer program, and so, she took out some time and showed her support by volunteering at the middle Tennessee Second Harvest Food Bank. The goal of the program and Pickler’s involvement is to help spread the word about child hunger in the United States. Because of her involvement, Kellie herself has become aware of issues that no doubt many other Americans are also unaware of. “I was really surprised at how many kids go hungry during the summertime, just because they rely on the school meals for food,” -Kellie Pickler While volunteering, she helped by working alongside local volunteers and provide nutritious meals for low-income families. Animal lover Kellie Pickler had a once in a lifetime experience as a caregiver at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee on GAC’s Day Job’s last night. Helping animals has always been an important part of Kellie’s life. She learned about some of the tragic stories of their past and how the Elephant Sanctuary is helping provide a quality of life they would’ve experienced in the wild. Kellie took in every moment working alongside the caregivers as the tended to the magnificent creatures. The show premiered last night on GAC, but for those of you who missed, you will have your chance! The episode will re-air May 4 at 10pm ET, May 5 at 2am ET and May 6 at 3pm ET! Why You Need To Listen To Kellie Pickler’s New Album Now! Kellie Pickler‘s new album, 100 Proof released today! This is the first album we have seen from Pickler since her self-titled album in 2008, and it was well worth the wait. Since her American Idol debut, Kellie admits she has grown quite a bit, and this album proves that she is an artist in her own right. “When I auditioned for American Idol I was not an artist. So from Idol to the first record to this record, I really tried to find myself because there’s a difference between a singer and an artist.” -Kellie Pickler That evolution is definitely audible on 100 Proof, and I would like to give you the Top 3 Reasons why you should listen to (and possibly purchase!) Pickler’s new album right now. Reason #1 Classic Country Vibe One thing I hear a lot of country music fans say is that country music like they know it, doesn’t really exist anymore. It seems more and more that what hits mainstream country music stations is a fusion of pop, country and well, other things. These country fans who are aching for that classic country sound will be pleased with 100 Proof. While it isn’t truly traditional country, it is very much playing homage to that sound that a lot of country fans grew up on. With heroes like Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Tammy Wynette, it’s hardly shocking that this vibe would be so prevalent on Pickler’s album. From the whining guitar on the title track to the twang in Kellie’s voice and the instrumentals on “Where’s Tammy Wynette” and “Little House On The Highway“, fans will no doubt be pleased with the overall effect. There is also a healthy dose of fiddle and banjo thrown in here and there throughout the whole album which is never a bad thing. Another clue that this album is rooted in old-school country is Kellie’s ode to the honky tonk with her “Unlock That Honky Tonk” track. One lyric literally pleads “Don’t tell me country’s gone…”. That one is definitely going to be a summer concert favorite. Reason #2 Strong Voice One thing I love about Pickler is her sassiness. She always seems to say just what she means, and doesn’t hold back. This same quality is evident in her music, and it is incredibly compelling. Her first single release off the album, “Tough” is a great example of this. She delivers the well-written lyrics with power and vocal talent that kind of makes you wanna throw fist in the air or give this girl a high-five! There’s also “Stop Cheatin’ On Me” which doesn’t quite have the same fast-paced power of “Tough“, but it definitely maintains a similar take-no-bull attitude. Reason #3 Balance Another reason to love this album is that it has a really good balance between fast-paced boot-scootin’ songs and slower-paced tunes. Kellie Pickler Hosts Nashville Humane Association Benefit. Kellie Pickler will be hosting the second annual, “Unleashed: Dinner With Your Dog“, on Saturday, January 21st in Nashville. The event benefits the city’s Humane Association, and features a “Canine Couture Fashion Show” live auction and dinner. Tickets range from $80-$150. Other stars whose attendance is expected includes Jimmy Wayne, Ty Herndon, Sarah Darling and others. Pickler’s upcoming album, 100 Proof, featuring latest single “Tough” is due out January 24th.

Kellie Pickler Releases Cover of Upcoming Album, 100 Proof. In the run-up to the release of her upcoming album, 100 Proof, Kellie Pickler has let slip a little sneak peak of the album cover! I know you’re not supposed to judge a book (or album…) by its cover, but if you could, I think you could expect good things from 100 Proof!
