You are probably already aware that Lady Antebellum is currently on the U.S. leg of the 2012 We Own The Night World Tour. This popular trio has now announced the expansion of their tour to include multiple European dates this summer! This is great news for all those country fans across the pond! Lady Antebellum will be kicking off their Own The Night 2012 World Tour, Friday, January 27th! In order to get this kick-off started right, they will be treating fans to an Online Live Chat on Thursday, January 26th, the night before their tour starts up.

The chat will beginning streaming live at 6pm CT on the official Lady Antebellum website. Fans will have the opportunity to asks questions and get their answers on the spot! Josh Kelley has released the very sweet video for “Naleigh Moon!” Naleigh is the daughter of Kelley and actress Katherine Heigl. The video features home footage of the couple with their adopted three year old. The song “Naleigh Moon” appears on Kelley’s 2011 acclaimed album, Georgia Clay, and was go-written with Georgia Clay producer Clint Lagerberg.

“I knew you [Heigl] were going to do a great job and you’re an awesome story teller. Also, I knew you would do it for free.” -Kelley says to Heigl at their home

The video was shot in Los Angeles and includes home footage of Naleigh over the past couple of years.

When asked about the first reactions to the video, Josh replies,

“People loved it. My manager showed it to the record label. The CEO from the record label called me and said, ‘We just played the video for the whole label and over half the people were crying.’”

Josh has been on the road extensively in support of Georgia Clay with opening slots for Taylor Swift, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert. He just wrapped up a tour opening for multi-platinum and award-winning group Lady Antebellum. You can catch him this coming weekend performing at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum has married beau, Chris Tyrell. The two were wed in upstate New York on Saturday, January 7th in a small ceremony including close family and friends just before sunset (so romantic!). Scott wore a strapless wedding gown made by renowned designer, Vera Wang. We wish them both the best, congrats!

Lady A will pick up their 2012 tour on January 27th in Tulsa, OK.

Last night was the presentation of the CMT Artists Of The Year Awards, hosted by Rob Lowe. The honorees were Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift and Brad Paisley. The recipients were chosen based off of sales, radio airplay, concert grosses and activity on cmt.com.

Each artist was given a section of the 90 minute show that was dedicated to them with a performance, congratulatory words by others and a short acceptance speech.

Kenny Chesney had the special treat to have Gavin Degraw perform his hit “Somewhere With You“, where he did a fantastic job! A part of the show that ranks very high on my list was when Matthew McConaughey had a video message for Chesney that was too cute!

Lady Antebellum received kind words from many including their good friend Miranda Lambert and performed their brand new single “Dancin’ Away With My Heart.” It sounded great and by the reactions of Taylor Swift and the rest of the audience (including me at home), it looks like this will be another chart topper for them!

Jason Aldean performed his current single “Tattoos On This Town” and spoke of how this year was kind of a risk, but he was glad he did things on his terms. He wasn’t concerned about what people were telling him to do, he followed his gut and boy did it pay off! Nobody puts Jason in a corner!

Viewers were treated to a special treat with an energetic performance by The Avett Brothers. A band that is quite possibly one of the most cross-genre groups around (we aren’t quite sure what they are…folk, rock, indie, Americana, who knows)!

Taylor Swift also had someone else perform one of her songs, but this performance had a bit of a twist. The All American Rejects gave us their take on “Mean” while throwing in a little bit of their own hit “Gives You Hell!” It was great! She accepted her award from her good friend and fellow female country artist, Faith Hill.

Brad Paisley wrapped the night up for us, first by saying that Country Music was the best industry to be in because everyone was so nice and then by collaborating with Joe Walsh on “Camouflage!”

It was a great night for everyone, wish I could have been there! Congratulations again to all five of the talented acts!

Lady Antebellum stopped by the set of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Tuesday, November 22nd episode to perform both old and new music! The trio first performed one of the tracks off their new album, “Dancing Away With My Heart“, and then also had the chance to sing their Grammy winning hit, “Need You Now“. With the first few notes of the title track onLady Antebellum’s third studio album, Own The Night, I am filled with happiness. Throughout the entire album I never lose this emotion. Let me describe it another way. I am a runner, and when I find music I really love, music that fills my heart up, it makes me want to throw on my running shoes and hit the pavement. This album does this for me.

Lady Antebellum has delivered a wonderful new album with 12 tracks that range from quick and fun (“Friday Night“; “Singing Me Home“) to mellow and sentimental (“Wanted You More“; “As You Turn Away“). One thing that can easily be said of Lady A is that they have a very definite and recognizable sound that sets them apart. I have been trying to think of how to describe this, and the best way I can think of is simply that their sound is a little more than mainstream country, it has a kind of folksy, earthy quality to it as well. You can hear this in the rhythms and lyrics of their songs, and it is explicitly exemplified with a lovely solo of flutes at the end of “Cold As Stone“. What I’m really saying is that Lady A’s music has depth!

Another signature quality of this trio’s music is how well-written it is (On this album, they wrote or co-wrote ten of the twelve songs). They manage to take themes and stories that could easily be cliche, and find poetic and engaging new ways to treat the content. “Cold As Stone” addresses coping with heartbreak and loss, and the chorus “wish I was cold as stone/then I wouldn’t feel a thing” conjures a strong and immediately relatable image. “Dancin’ Away With My Heart” at one point describes a teenage dance which could easily sound trite, but with the line “beneath the moon that was really a disco ball” becomes heartwarming. When you only have two to four minutes to share a story, being able to pack meaning into the few words you have, like Lady Antebellum does, goes a long way to creating a quality music.

I truly enjoy every track on this album. However, if I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be “Friday Night“. The gist of the song is that love should be exciting and fun not just every day, same old thing. With lyrics like “I don’t want to be another chore to check off on your list”, “I want to be your jackpot, hot spot” “I want to set you free/I want to take you high/I want to be your Friday night” and an upbeat tempo, it is sure to get your boot tapping. I see myself riding down the road with the windows down and this song blaring!

All in all, Own The Night, is exactly what it should be. It showcases the writing, vocal and instrumental talents of Lady Antebellum, and proves yet again that they deserve the notoriety they have attained in the past couple years. I will definitely have this album on repeat, and hopefully, I (or someone else here at the CMNB newsroom!) will get the chance to see these three perform live on their 2012 tour!

Lady Antebellum has officially released the line-up for the initial six month leg of their 2012 Own The Night Tour! The tour will kick-off in Tulsa, OK on January 27th and so far, is scheduled to run through June 29th in Indianapolis, IN. For a complete list of dates, see the list below!

The members of Lady A have been on a roll recently, and they are understandably excited about this tour! Charles spoke for the group, sharing how they have gotten the opportunity to be more involved with this tour, and how they are really getting to take a completely hands on approach to building an amazing show for fans!

The honorees were chosen by ranking them based on the following criteria: sales (physical albums, digital albums and single downloads); country radio airplay based on spins; concert grosses as a headliner or co-headliner; and activity on cmt.com (video streams, searches, and artist page views). The rankings were then compiled to identify the leading performers across the four categories cumulatively.
