Bucky Covington IS Smarter Than a 5th Grader!

Bucky Covington wins $25,000 for The Arthritis Foundation on CMT’s “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader”. Bucky Covington went to the head of the class last night, answering Jeff Foxworthy‘s questions with style on CMT‘s “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader“. With the help of his classmates, Bucky climbed all the way to a $25,000 prize before calling it a night. Bucky responsibly passed on the opportunity to risk it all for a $250,000 loot. Bucky celebrated winning the $25,000 for his charity The Arthritis Foundation, a non-profit which supports more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions and helps people take control of arthritis by providing public health education; pursuing public policy and legislation; and conducting evidence-based programs to improve the quality of life for those living with arthritis. “Just like any good student would do, I called my mom first after the class ended,” said Bucky. “Arthritis hits close to home with our family and I had to let her know about the A+ win!”Country Music Photo Gallery

Bucky Covington Brings it on Home

Bucky Covington will perform a FREE concert September 26th in Rockingham, NC to support local charitable programs. Bucky Covington will be returning to his hometown of Rockingham North Carolina in just a few short weeks to host a free live concert for local fans.  Fans are urged to bring canned goods or other non-perishable foods to donate in support of the local Backpack Pals program, as well as the Our Daily Bread Christian Food Ministry. These programs provide nutritional meals and snacks to children on the weekends who otherwise rely on school cafeteria meals during the week. “One of the best places to play is at home. We’ve had the incredible privilege of playing shows in Europe, Alaska and all across the states, but there’s nothing like going home and performing. Every time you look out at the crowd, you see people you know. And to be able to help out Backpack Pals which is such a great organization and worthy cause, tops off this homecoming.” and “When I was on American Idol the whole town pulled together – all of the business, churches – everyone. They all went above and beyond to help out and show me their support,” remembers Bucky. “Now it’s my time to give back.” Country Music Photo Gallery

Bucky Covington – Country Artist of the Week

For this week’s CAW, I chose newcomer Bucky Covington. I’m not a big American Idol fan myself, but I remember seeing his audition tape as he sang “Simple Man” from Lynyrd Skynyrd and thinking “God I hope this tv show doesn’t eat that boy up and spit him out!”. He’s not pretty, he’s not full of forced politeness, and he’s not today’s typical prissy and preened radio star. Bucky gritted his teeth and toughed it out in America’s biggest dog and pony show, making it all the way to #8 before being voted out in favor of Taylor Hicks (who is now all but disappeared off the map entirely). Meanwhile Bucky Covington has got a record deal with Lyric Street, and a 2008 concert tour with Dierks Bentley. It’s no wonder why he’s singin’ “It’s Good to Be Us“! Stay tuned throughout the week for more hot facts about Bucky Covington!
