NASHVILLE, TN (March 29, 2016) – Black River Entertainment’s Kelsea Ballerini takes flight with the thrill-seeking video for her brand new single “Peter Pan,” which makes its world premiere exclusively across Entertainment Tonight and ETonline.com this Thursday (3/31). Following the premiere, the video will make its full-length broadcast debut on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown on Saturday (4/2) and will also be available across multiple media platforms.
Taking a modern approach to the well-known animated fantasy-adventure story of Peter Pan, Ballerini worked closely with director Kristin Barlowe to bring Neverland to life.
“I loved the idea of having a song about a breakup that wasn’t some dramatic cheating or scandal moment. It’s the kind of thing where one person just can’t emotionally match the other, and that’s a sad kind of ending and heartbreak … and that’s what I wanted this song and video to capture,” shares Ballerini. “ Sometimes the thrills of life or youth overrule the thrill of love until someone is truly ready to be in a relationship. This was a fun way to show that side in the video.”
Filmed just outside of Las Vegas, the video heightens the thrills of youth with the adrenaline rush of flying, driving and falling in love while rolling in subtle throwbacks to the classic story. To visually capture the drama of the song and vast video set, fashion designers Cavanagh Baker for Stowe and Carol Hannah created breath-taking, theatrical custom pieces for Ballerini while heart-stopping aerial maneuvers appear courtesy of the aviation stunt team at Sky Combat Ace (Las Vegas). Leading up to the premiere, fans can get an inside first look at the behind-the-scenes making of the video on People.com and iHeart Radio.com.
Written by Ballerini, Jesse Lee and the album’s producer Forest Glen Whitehead, “Peter Pan” is the third single released from the talented singer/songwriter’s critically acclaimed debut THE FIRST TIME and follows two consecutive #1 smashes: the GOLD-certified “Love Me Like You Mean It” and infectious, follow-up “Dibs.”
Continuing to soar to new heights, Ballerini earned her first-ever ACM Award win for New Female Vocalist of the Year and took to her socials to share her priceless reaction. She plans to celebrate with her first full-blown awards show performance featuring pop superstar Nick Jonas, as announced earlier today on his Twitter. Airing live from Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3 at 8:00 PM ET/delayed PT on CBS, the rising star will also vie for Female Vocalist of the Year.
