Arrangements for Grand Ole Opry Star Mel McDaniel

A memorial service, open to the public, will be held to honor Grand Ole Opry star Mel McDaniel Wednesday, April 13th, 2pm-4pm at the Grand Ole Opry House.

Hailing from Tulsa, OK, Mel was known for hit singles like “Have a Dream on Me” and “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On” which was nominated for a Grammy. A member of the Opry since 1986, he performed regularly throughout the 90’s and 2000’s. His last performance was an all cast sing at the September 28th, 2010 reopening of the Opry House.

McDaniel passed away at the age of 68 on March 31st in his in Hendersonville, TN from complications of lung cancer. He is survived by one daughter and one grandson.
