Country Artists To Perform At 2013 Billboard Awards

Taylor Swift Leads In Billboard Music Award Nominations. Country Music will be represented in Las Vegas yet again, as another award show is coming up. Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves and The Band Perry are all scheduled to perform at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The show will air live Sunday, May 19 on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Country Nominees: Swift has a pretty good chance of taking at least one award home, seeing how she has 11 nominations for the night. Swift is in the running for Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Digital Songs Artist, Top Social Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Album, Top Streaming Song (Video) and Top Country Song. Swift is also up for the Milestone Award. Jason Aldean is up for three awards: Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist and Top Country Album. Luke Bryan also has three nominations: Top Country Artist, Top Country Album and Top Country Song. Hunter Hayes is up for Top Country Artist and Top Country Song. Carrie Underwood is nominated for Top Country Artist and Top Country Album. Lionel Richie is nominated for Top Country Album and Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line are also up for Top Country Song.

Kacey Musgraves Delivers with Debut Same Trailer Different Park Album! There is a lot of real, solid talent on the country music scene, but even in this sea of amazing folks, there are clear stand outs. Kacey Musgraves with her debut album release Same Trailer Different Park is one of those individuals that was quite simply born to shine. Her first single “Merry Go Round” was a runaway success with a Billboard peak at 14 and current spot of 16 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and like that single this album is honest, smart, original, well written and beautifully composed. As a Texan, I’m probably biased, but Musgraves has that strength, raw energy and authenticity that we consistently hear from the Texas-centric country artists, and I am just blown away by her. All I can say is look out country, because Kacey is here to take you by storm! Top 5 Best Things About Kacey Musgraves Debut Album. 1. Refreshing perspective. Musgraves has her finger on the pulse of the heartbreak that runs through country music, but she approaches it in an altogether modern way. The sentiment may be familiar, but the message is brand new. 2. Beautiful lyrics like this: “If you want to find the honey, you can’t be scared of the bees. If you want to see the forest, you’re gonna have to look past the trees.” -Silver Lining (Track 1) 3. Soft delivery of strong words. Kacey Musgraves Is Gettting Ready To Release Her Debut Album, Same Trailer Different Park. Kacey Musgraves will release her debut album, Same Trailer Different Park, on March 19th. The album is co-produced by Musgraves, Shane McAnally and Luke Laird and features her current single and top 15 hit “Merry Go ‘Round.” Musgraves wrote or co-wrote all tracks on the album. “The making of this record was such a fun and meaningful time for me,” said Musgraves. “As a writer, singer and producer I learned so much throughout the whole process. I am proud and excited to present a project alongside Shane McAnally and Luke Laird that came from a very real and inspired place in my brain and heart.” Rolling Stone gave “Merry Go ‘Round” FOUR STARS and named it one of their “50 Best Songs of 2012” while NPR named her as their “Best New Artist of 2012” and included her in the “Best Music in 2013 preview.” Musgraves recently received her first country music award nomination for New Female Vocalist for the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards Announce Nominations for Newcomer Categories! The Academy of Country Music announced the first round of nominations for the 2013 ACM Awards earlier this week. The categories announced so far showcase country music “newcomers,” and for the fifth consecutive year fans will be able to vote for their favorite artists in these specific categories. Voting will open on Monday, January 21st, and you can vote on ACM’s official page or at GAC.com. Individual trophies will be awarded to winners in each of the categories below, and the three winners will compete for the final New Artist of the Year Award the night of the broadcast. I’m a little surprised that Thompson Square and Lee Brice haven’t graduated out of the new artist/newcomer groups yet, but all those nominated are great artists!
