The video below is the fun result of the contest and features Moore being lovable self while he gives fans their “call back.” The responses from the fans are pretty amusing with some folks clearly screening calls and some being a little confused about what’s going on! EDM Meets Country Music: DJ DU

DJ DU Shakes Things Up Infusing EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and Country For One Wild Ride! I never thought I’d be writing about someone who mixes country music with electronic dance music, but that’s exactly what I’m doing thanks to DJ DU. I recently got wind of DU and his country/EDM infusions via #CMchat, and I’m not gonna lie, at first I didn’t know quite what to do with it. Now, I know some of you are probably thinking, that’s crazy! Leave my country alone! I understand where you’re coming from, but just hold on and give DJ DU and his unique style a chance! DJ DU originally hails from the East coast, but now resides in the dusty and warm desserts of Arizona. A self-professed country music fan and bonafied musician (plays bass, drums, guitar and more…), this DJ has a love and respect for the genre, and his musical concoctions are simply a natural progression of his musical tastes! He let me know that first and foremost, he has to love the song to work with it! “First of all, I gotta love the song. I gotta feel the song and know the crowd is gonna love it. I gotta love the artist. I try to look for songs that are up and coming on the charts, and there are other songs that are staples, like the Johnny Cash one, you hear Johnny Cash and you gotta love it.” -DJ DU No doubt traditionalists will balk at the idea of mixing country tunes this way. Even DJ DU said himself that there are some songs that he wouldn’t even touch. Still, he is getting a great response from artists, and was even featured live on the 2012 American Country Awards on FOX spinning a special mix just for Kip Moore. Right now, he’s playing festivals like Country Thunder and big venues like Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and folks at the clubs are loving these reinvented country songs! Major upshot for country artists, their music is being heard and appreciated by folks that would never have listened to them before. DJ DU hopes that he’ll get the chance to work with artists in the studio on original work, and maybe even sing a recording deal sometime soon. Brian Davis Hits The Road With Brantley Gilbert & Kip Moore For The 2013 Hell On Wheels Tour. Brian Davis will be hitting the road with Brantley Gilbert again on his 2013 Hell On Wheels Tour. This is the second time Davis will be rocking on this tour, as he was part of the first leg in 2012. Davis will be opening for Kip Moore when the tour kicks off January 31 in Independence, MO. “I am really excited to be rolling back out with Brantley Gilbert and having the opportunity to KICK OFF the PARTY every night on the ‘Hell On Wheels Tour’ as well as sharing the stage with Kip Moore,” said Brian Davis. “We had such a great time meeting so many cool fans out on the first leg of the tour. I can only imagine how crazy this next one’s gonna be!” Davis has recorded and released six albums on his own. His current, Under The Influence is on iTunes. We will be getting the chance to see a live show from Davis tomorrow when he opens for Lee Brice in Fort Smith, Ark. Be looking for a show review in the near future!

Top 20 Country Music Songs for 2012 via Billboard. As someone who spends a majority of their day listening to, reading about, discussing and writing about country music, I always get a kick out of reading through the year charts. This year I am both surprised and not surprised by the artists that made it into the Top 20. There are a lot of country music up and comers, like Jana Kramer, Hunter Hayes, Kip Moore and Dustin Lynch, but also, some of our favorite well established country stars like Tim McGraw, Miranda Lambert and Kenny Chesney! I have to say I’m pretty pleased about the number one spot! Not only because Josh Turner is one of my favorites singers, but also “Time Is Love” is such a great song with a great message! All in all there’s no denying, it was a pretty good year for country music.
