Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw and More Country Stars Set to Honor Bruce Springsteen at MusiCares Event. Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Emmylou Harris and Natalie Maines are the country stars among a whole host of artists from other genres, that are set to honor Bruce Springsteen at the upcoming MusiCares Event! Springsteen is being named the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year for his “exceptional artistic achievements” in addition to his philanthropic work. MusiCares is a part of the GRAMMY Foundation with the stated mission of providing “a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need. MusiCares’ services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. MusiCares also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service issues that directly impact the health and welfare of the music community.” Proceeds from the event honoring Springsteen, which is taking place Friday, February 8th, will go to aid these causes, and luckily, it has already sold it out! Comedian, television personality and author, Jon Stewart will be hosting. Additional artists in the lineup are: Alabama Shakes, Jackson Browne, Ben Harper, Jim James, Elton John, Juanes, John Legend, Tom Morello, Mumford & Sons, Patti Smith, Mavis Staples, Sting, Eddie Vedder and Neil Young.

Natalie Maines Solo Album Mother Releases May 7th

Natalie Maines To Release New Solo Album, Mother, May 7th! Natalie Maines will be releasing brand new music this year in the form of her new solo album, Mother! The new record promises to have a rock vibe, inspired in part by iconic British rock group Pink Floyd and will release on May 7th. The new record was produced by Ben Harper whom Natalie performed with live more than once earlier this year. Maines’ cover of the Pink Floyd song, “Mother“, will be available via iTunes as early as January 15th as it is featured on the soundtrack for new documentary, West of Memphis, chronicling the harrowing story of the West Memphis three. Now, just because Maines is releasing a solo project doesn’t mean the Dixie Chicks are gone for good or at all.
